Guests joined us at James’ beautiful home, collectively donating $5,300 in support of Kupona’s mission. Thanks to a generous matching donation, and donations made by guests in the days leading up the event, $15,120 was raised. Kupona’s Board, Advisory Board and staff members were delighted to be joined by so many leading thinkers, clinicians, advocates and supporters of the global effort to improve the quality of healthcare available to every mother and every newborn.

Proceeds from the evening will support the work of American OB/GYN, Dr. Sierra Washington, who is currently seconded to our sister organization in Tanzania, CCBRT, as part of their comprehensive maternal and newborn healthcare program. Kupona’s Executive Director, Abbey Kocan, shared Dr. Washington’s latest report from the field, highlighting her most recent accomplishments as a trainer, advocate and adviser. Working side by side with CCBRT, Dr. Washington is building a foundation for quality care for mothers and their newborns in Tanzania.

We are grateful to all who attended and gave so generously, enabling Dr. Washington to continue her clinical work, technical advisement, and training of Tanzanian healthcare workers. This support helps to ensure that life-saving skills and techniques are embedded in the Tanzanian healthcare system for generations to come.

With gratitude,

The Kupona Team
